London Trip September 2012

The Social Subjects department took a group of S5 pupils down to London from 24th September to the 27th September. Departing from Glasgow Central Train Station, the group of 36 pupils and 5 teachers arrived on an overcast afternoon and made their way to their hotel in Russell square. Thankfully, during the rest of the trip the weather took a turn for the better and the group enjoyed seeing London in glorious sunshine.
Zambia World Challenge - Summer 2012

After a year and a half of training, preparation and fundraising, a group of 9 pupils and one teacher from St. Ninian’s High School embarked on a once in a life time expedition to Zambia in Africa with World Challenge, a company that provides unique educational experiences.
China Trip - Summer 2012

On Friday 13th July, a group of three St. Ninian’s pupils - Anna O’Donnell, Megan Smith and Katie Hughes - travelled to Beijing, China, with 50 other Scottish pupils to take part in a three-week immersion programme to learn about the Chinese language and culture. Accompanied by St Ninian’s teacher Suzanne Boyle, they were welcomed at the airport by volunteer teachers and assistants of Beijing Foreign Studies University. They were then taken to the hotel on the University campus which would be their home for the duration of the trip.

On 9th October, Mr Dearie (Art Department) and Mrs Martin (Library) set off for China, to participate in a two-week language and cultural immersion course as part of a group of 23 teachers from all over Scotland.
London Trip 2011

On Monday 26th September, a group of 32 pupils and 4 teachers from St Ninian’s High School, Kirkintilloch, travelled down to London for a four day visit. Departing from Glasgow Central Train Station, the group arrived on an overcast afternoon and made their way to their hotel in South Kensington. Thankfully, during the rest of the trip the weather took a turn for the better and the group enjoyed seeing London in glorious sunshine.
Paris 2011

For many years in St Ninian’s, it has been tradition for pupils from first and second year to embark on a journey to Paris, with the teachers, to experience the cultural lifestyle of the inhabitants of the grand city. We spent the last week in June there to grasp a better understanding of the language and their way of life.
Spain 2011

On the 18th of June 2011, 27 pupils, from S3 andS4, and 4 teachers began a five day adventure to the gorgeous Benalmádena, in the heart of the Costa del Sol. We reached our destination at around 11pm local time, and our world was opened up to the wonderful Spanish culture.
Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands

A team of ten set off from Glasgow at the end of June for a 32 day expedition to Ecuador and the Galapagos. This year we teamed up with a pupil from Airdrie Academy (Emily Rankin) and had as our World Challenge leader Mr Colin Watson, a former parent.
Chinese Immersion Course 2010

DURING the summer of 2010, three students and one teacher from St. Ninian’s High School, accompanied by two pupils from Douglas Academy, took part in a Chinese Immersion Course to Beijing, organised by the Chinese Hanban, the British Council and the Scottish Government.
