Categories: School News

Two S6 pupils attended the Engineering Without Borders Conference in
Glasgow at the weekend. Paul McLaughlin and Brian McFadden went along
on Friday and Saturday 27th Feb at Strathclyde University.
On Friday night the keynote address from Dr Samiullah spoke about his
life as an engineer working in many different countries in disaster
situations. On Saturday Paul and Brian took part in workshops which
looked at engineering solutions to supply water, shelter and bridges
when earthquakes, droughts, famine and other disasters occur.

They found out more about what engineers actually do in the world and
also information about the engineering courses at University. Both boys
are now keen to complete their school studies and go onto study
Engineering at University.
