Modern Studies Conference

On Wednesday 3rd of March, pupils who study Higher Modern Studies and Politics attended a Modern Studies conference organised by Philip Allan Updates, in Paisley Town Hall. The main aim of the conference was to improve the knowledge of pupils and increase their enthusiasm for the subject. The day consisted of various lectures, with Alison Elliot speaking about Health and Wealth inequalities, Gordon Black talking about Success in Higher Modern Studies, Essay Grading with Frank Cooney and the election and voting behaviour lecture was delivered by Paul Creaney. The Keynote Address was delivered by Tommy Sheridan. Tommy spoke about Scottish and UK politics and commented that the poor are taxed harder than the rich at times. He also spoke about how it is not right that bankers are still getting paid bonuses even after the financial mess they got the country into. All the pupils enjoyed the day with their understanding of the subject greatly increased which will hopefully lead to very successful exam results.
