Study Day

The Physics department held a study day on the 19th May prior to the Physics exams. Pupils that attended had the opportunity to question and consult the resident Physics teachers for the whole day.  We hope that the day helped with tricky problems and calmed the nerves before the final exams, and we look forward to seeing and hearing of the successes in August!

 Bloodhound SSC Competition

The Physics department have entered one team in the Bloodhound SSC Model Rocket Dragster competition.  The regional heats were held at New College Lanarkshire, where one of our model rockets scored the fastest time of the day, securing our place in the finals at the Glasgow Science Centre on the 8thJune. The boys built their dragster on finals day in under 25 minutes, which showcased their focus and sureness in their design. The team managed to make the top 20 dragsters of the day, with some officials heralding their unique design. Some warm and calm conditions at Clydeside made the day even more enjoyable. Well done boys!

 Scottish Space School

The Scottish Space School is one of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde's most successful outreach programs.

The program for the week is made up of a mix of lectures, labs and workshops on a space theme and it is delivered by academics and researchers from the Faculty, as well as visiting NASA representatives.

We hope Kirsty enjoys the experience and also hope it inspires her to take up further education in science and/or engineering.
