Pupils will be developing skills required to achieve National 4 in S3 where they will be assessed in knowledge and understanding of drama and production skills. National 4 provides progression to the National 5 Course
- National 4 builds on the experiences and outcomes to develop learners’ ability to appreciate drama within its social, cultural and historic contexts
- National 4 offers learners the opportunity to develop their individual creativity and to use new technologies
Added Value Unit – Drama Performance
The general aim of this Unit is to enable the learner to provide evidence of added value for the Drama (National 4) Course through the successful completion of a performance which will allow the learner to demonstrate application and challenge.
This course will be aimed at pupils who normally follow an Intermediate 1 Course in S3. It is hoped that it will prepare them for National 5 in S4.
Senior Phase
Pupils will be developing skills required to achieve National 5 in S4 where they will be assessed in knowledge and understanding of drama and production skills.
· National 5 provides progression to the Higher Course to develop learners’ ability to appreciate drama within its social, cultural and historic contexts
· National 5 builds on the experiences and outcomes
· National 5 offers opportunities for personalisation and choice to study different themes and contexts
· National 5 offers learners the opportunity to develop their individual creativity and to use new technologies
Assessment
- Assesses added value through a question paper and a performance
- Allocates 60% of marks to the performance and 40% of marks to the Question paper
- Uses controlled assessment for the performance; this will be set by centres within SQA guidelines
