In September 2008, the school set up a youth Saint Vincent De Paul for senior school pupils.
The vision of the Pastoral Team and the pupils involved was to create an organisation, within the school, which looked to bridge connections with local charities and help our young people live out their Catholic faith. This was to be achieved through the pupils giving their time and energy to others in need; much like the seven young men who started the Saint Vincent De Paul in 1833.
The group now comprises of a number of staff and S6 pupils. However, it is the pupils that have taken on the important roles of President, Secretary and Treasurer. The S6 group lead our weekly meetings; including prayers and discussions on any projects they are involved with.
So far, their work has included the team volunteering in the Ozanam Centre’s soup kitchen. They have also been helping to raise awareness of - and essentials for- local food banks. They are now looking to encourage the lower school pupils to get involved with this too.
Looking forward, the young Vincentians are hoping to continue their good work, while answering their call as Christians to help those in need.
