The work of the Pupil Council is led by Mrs S Boyle (DHT) and Mrs P Stafford (PT Guidance). The purpose of Pupil Councils is to allow pupils to express opinions on and influence the life of the school.
Pupil Councils will be set up for each year group from S1 – S5. They will consist of two representatives from each Support Learners class and a Guidance Teacher.
Meetings of Pupil Councils will take place throughout the year and dates have been entered on the school calendar.
Each meeting will focus on one of the themes for self-evaluation in the Wee HGIOS, a document produced by Education Scotland to help young people play a key role in their school’s improvement.
An agenda with the Wee HGIOS theme and other relevant items will be set by Mrs Boyle and Mrs Stafford. There will be an opportunity for representatives to discuss any other relevant business.
Supporting Learners teachers are asked to allow Pupil Council members to read out the minutes from the meeting during the SL class. Minutes will be discussed at an SMT meeting and action to be taken as a result of issues raised at the Pupil Councils will be the responsibility of the relevant DHT.
Two members from each Pupil Council will be nominated to form the School Council.”
